The fruit for Heidi Schröck's dry Furmint is sourced from the 30-year-old Turner vineyard. Furmint is a very sensitive grape variety that requires a lot of attention. The sandy loam soils with gravel provide the best conditions for the variety and result in a mineral character in the finished wine. The site is managed under sustainable viticultural practices. No herbicides or insecticides are used, and local plants are used as cover crops. The grapes were all hand harvested and quickly transported to the winery to retain freshness. After a long and gentle pressing, the juice was transferred into large Acacia casks for fermentation with indigenous yeasts. Following fermentation, the wine spent 9 months ageing on its fine lees to add texture and complexity. Golden yellow colour, the Heidi Schröck & Söhne Furmint has a unique profile with aromas of golden apple and quince as well as delicate notes of chamomile and hay.
